anyone have any experience sharing bandwidth with a digital audio carrier setup? Our operations manager who is in charge of phones wants to possibly switch because it would be cheaper, but the upfront equipment is charged to us UNLESS we switch our ISP and carrier to the same company and, according to the salesman, share bandwidth on the frame relay line they would bring into our main office, and then the upfront costs are waived. Our operations department desires the upfront costs being waivedgreatly.
We are using 2 DSL lines now and very happy with stability and service and I’d rather not change but the cost savings to the company appear (at least according to the salesperson) to be worth switching. I am wondering if anyone has done this, and how well it worked. Basically he said that we could dedicate a fractional amount of bandwidth to the IT side, and then use additional bandwidth as phone lines were not always in use. I am unfamiliar with equipment that does this, and the sales team didn’t seem to understand their hardware very much. I requested a tour of their facility, but frankly, I don’t know much about these sorts of phone systems.
Any experiences good or bad with this setup would be appreciated.
Thanks!
