Sharing HP LaserJet 2300 from XP Pro to XP Pro & Vista Laptops

I work in a smaller real estate office. One of the offices (a team of 3) is having some printer issues. They have a desktop running XP Pro belonging to our office domain, an XP Tablet Edition laptop also belonging to our office domain, and a Vista Home Premium laptop obviously not belonging to the domain. On the XP Pro desktop, they have connected an HP LaserJet 2300 printer being shared to the two laptops. Intermittently, the two laptop uses are reporting they cannot print to the shared printer. I reinstalled the driver using the PCL 6 driver compatible with Vista. Right after I installed it, all 3 were able to connect and print a test page. Later that day, the desktop user reported that after using a web-based print utility, it threw an error saying it was “Opening the HP LaserJet 2300”, upon okaying the box, it threw another error that Internet Explorer needed to close. Also, the XP Tablet Edition laptop is now saying that when he is plugged into the network, he cannot print to it, but when he is connected to the wireless router we have set up in our network, he can print. Also, the Vista laptop is having intermitten erros printing also. I am at a loss as to what is going on. Any suggestions would help.
