Should I attend college in Florida..

by scott6133 . Updated 24 years, 5 months ago

This is my first post and I just wanted some feedback. As we all know Florida is not the IT capital of the world, combine that with the fact that most jobs just don’t pay and lack of oppurtunity and your in a tight jam. I am 27 years old and I currently work as a Billing Clerk for ANC Rental Car. I make $21,000 a year at this job(not much) but it is the most amount of money I have ever made in my life, unfortunately. I have never recieved a good job even though I applied often. Most companies won’t look at me with my little Assoicates in Computer Networking.

I have decided to go back to school. At first, I wanted to attend a school specializing in IT (MIT) but then I realized that I do not have money to relocate and leave Florida even though I would love to. I really think Florida’s horrible economy is holding me down quite a bit and I want out but funds aren’t there which leaves me to ask the question.

Should I consider college in Florida? I am going for the B.S in Computer Science. I am afraid that when I grauduate I will be chumps change and still not be employed in IT. Is Florida that bad that you shouldn’t consider a career here?

I graduated 2 years ago and never found a IT job.
