I’ve been working with Microsoft products in systems integration companies for the past 5 years. I have moved on to my present role Regional Admin for the past 2 years.
Recently, my company has a new IT opportunity in business applications support (mainly ERP and other accounting packages) and my boss has proposed that I take up the role.
This new opportunity has presented me with the chance to “diversify” my knowledge on business processes and stuffs which I feel is a critical skillset to obtain, rather than just pure technical skills. On the other hand, I still enjoy implementing and supporting MS products. However, it seems like on my part of the world, MS skills are quite common nowadays and it is more or less a “commodity” now. I believe MS skillsets will be more common and the products will require less technical skills to implement in the near future.
I’m in a dilemma on whether to stick with my domain area of MS products or move on to a new area in biz apps support (non-SAP ERP product).
