I’ve got a classic situation. I work in an organization that treats me right. I, more or less, come and go as I please without having to notify anyone. The downside is that my job skills aren’t increasing anymore (and haven’t been for a couple ofyears).
I expect to receive an offer from another organization soon. This new place has a somewhat more “intense” atmosphere–I’ve already seen the boss (rightfully) lose his temper with an employee in front of other employees. I know their workday hours are tracked carefully. On the flip side, there is a lot to gain from this job, including some very valuable job skills (Java development using IBM’s Websphere Studio, to be precise).
Basically, should I leave my easy, relaxed environment for the new job skills I will receive? I am leaning towards the new job, but would like some other opinions.
