smiple peer/peer network slow to respond

Win98 2nd edition has one map drive and two catured printers. When I right click on the network printer it takes 30 seconds before I get the drop down menu. The printer works, it just so slow to respond. The dell dimension 4100 will take the 30 seconds to shut down also. The computer will lock at a restart but does shut down. I’ve tried different NICs and have tested the wire. I downloaded microsoft shut down patch. The other computer is a win98 B and is fine.
