SMS 1.2 Installer question

Can anyone give me a crash course on properly installing the SMS Installer on W9x and NT/2000 clients? Just took over an SMS server and want to start utilizing it. If im not mistaken the Installer is the client portion of SMS, correct? Also, any links to sites that offer “To the point” and “step by step” instructions would help also.
