Socket assignments

Using W2K Prof Server. How do I setup different sockets so that the Internet use is on one and workstations are accessing the server’s hard drives on another. This is suppose to spread out the use of the bandwidth and be more efficient. I really don’t know what I’m talking about – just what I’ve been told. Please lead me in the right direction
