I have just bought a Linksys Router Mod#Befsr41v.3, I have a WinXP Machine and I have a connection thru the router, my problem is I cannot get into the Routers configuration utility, also I am not getting DHCP from the router. The address of the router is 192.168.1.1 S/M is 255.255.255.0, my pc has a static address of 192.168.1.2 with a S/M of 255.255.255.0 that I put in. I am therefore in the same network as the router but I am still not able to even ping the router. When I set to obtain an address automatically it gives me an MS Autoconfig address in the 169.254.x.x range.
I have attached my XBOX to the router and it was able to obtain an IP address in the 192.168.1.x range. this tells me that the router is handing out addresses ok, but my PC is still unable to recieve one. I am not running the default XP Firewall and have uninstalled the firewall I had running, so that eliminates that. I am out of ideas on this and would greatly appreciate any ideas that anyone might have.
