ssh in linux

receently my linux redhat 6.2 is hacked by a rootkit or some hacking tools. It makes all logins from other remote workstations unavailable. Error msg is ‘login incorrect’ eventhough correct passwd is entered. Therefore i have close up the telnet service in inetd.conf and i wanna activate ssh instead. By the way, how to restore back the normal telnet service?
