Storage with available playback

by pighuntinpup . Updated 7 years, 9 months ago

For the last 3 years, I have been digitally converting DVDs to an MP4 format. I have been taking these movies and placing them on a 2T external hard drive. These drives are formatted to FAT32 for viewing on a PS3 or DVD player with USB playback capabilities. I have now come to completely filling the 2T hard drive and tried to format a 3T external hard drive to no success.

So, I would like to know if its possible to create something like a RAID or NAS that would be able to use a FAT32 format for playback on different media players such as a DVD player or PS3?

My goal is a larger stand alone storage and playback device for these movies without being connected to a network or internet.

I am by no means an IT guru or expert. But at the same time, I know a bit about IT, connection and such. If I seem not to get what you are saying, please dont attack me for it. If you have alternatives please speak up. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks
