Hi,
I posted a question the other day about a failure audit occurring apparently randomly.
The question is at (and watch out for spaces in the url) https://www.techrepublic.com.com/5208-6239-0.html?forumID=47&threadID=134396
As a result I wonder if people could have a quick look in their security log files and let me know if the error occurs.
The log report is:
_______________________________________________
Event Type: Failure Audit
Event Source: Security
Event Category: Policy Change
Event ID: 615
Date: 05/08/2003
Time: 14:23:05
User: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE
Computer: ACERLAPTOP
Description:
IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem.

Can anyone interested in figuring this one out e-mail the answers to the following to IPSecSurvey@oceanfree.net please?
1. Does the Failure Audit occur?
2. Do you use dial up?
3. Is your modem a hardware or software modem?
I’m trying to establish if the event occurs on dial up only and if it’s related to the modem type.
I’ll post the stats here in a week or two.
Thanks for you attention
John
