Symantec VPN – client access

I am testing out the Symantec firewall/VPN appliance for our LAN. I have run into the problem of not being able to access our LAN once connected from a client. The tunnel does exist(I can ping the inside IP of the firewall). But I can not ping the rest of the network let alone open shared resources. WINS is setup and maps the clients outside IP address.
