Taking over IT Manager Position

by russs . Updated 22 years, 11 months ago

I’ll be taking over an IT Manager position in two weeks. The exisiting IT Manager will be leaving the company and will, most likely, be unavailabe from day 1. I will be the entire IT department for this company.

I have three mornings that I am able to meet with the existing IT Manager. I want to make the most of these three mornings and ensure that I get all the information that I need.

I know I need things like:

Administrator logins for all the domains.

Some training on thier unique software.

Details about thier operations (backups etc.) I’ve already inspected the current network, so I know the technical details.

Vendor Documentation (Who provides what, along with account numbers and contacts.)

Any known network issues or unfinished business.

Any other ideas or information I should be sure to cover? Any general hints or strategies you could relate for taking over an IT Manager postition where the current manager will not be avaialble begining day 1?

Thanks in advance!
