Tar command

Hi,
I have a problem with TAR command. I have more than 2G data folder and when I run TAR to get a tar file, it goes up to 2G and stops. If you know any option to disable this limit or should I recomplie tar? I am using RedHat 7.1 and tar version is (GNU tar) 1.13.17.
Any idea would be appreciated.
