Telecommunication and n/w management

I feel that , the elements in telecom infrastructure like cross-connect, multiplexers , terminal equipments needs to be cenrally managed with the high performance Unix servers. These servers are pre-installed customised GUI for the management.
I would like to kick off the discussion on the set up and configurations of the interesting set up.
Let’s take initial setup of HP- OPENVIEW server and two other elements which are to be managed.
