Temporary User Profile

I have a laptop that when my administrative user logs in, a message presents saying that a user profile couldn’t be found (one exists) and that a temporary user profile will be used. Further, any changes made to the temp profile will be lost at logout. I’ve never seen this event before – Don’t know why this is happening? I’ve tried everything possible to manually create a user profile I even played with the environment variables and it did not resolve the issue. I really want to personalize my laptop and I can’t. Please help!!
