tft-lcd polarizing technology applications

I have just got into a new industry for me, and am under-taking some product training. my knowledge of tft-lcd displays is very limited, however I need to find some information out about the applications where displays would be used for the 3 primary polarizing technologies:
* reflective
* transmissive; and
* transflective
Can anyone please tell me where i could find a straight-forward list perhaps (if one exists) where they list in what instance you might use a reflective screen for example?
