The job market can’t really be this bad?

I have been out of work for 5 weeks now and cannot beleive it is really this bad. I have put out som many resumes I can’t even count anymore. I have over 9 years tech experience with management, web, etc. and I have not gotten a single bite. I am onevery job board in the US and am networking, bugging people, and so on. I have bought books, been on websites, and still… the advice is not getting the phone to ring. Any advice, any ideas, and words of wisdom?
