…as in Geo-Spatial. I just got the news from the GeoCommunity SpatialNews ( http://spatialnews.geocomm.com/dailynews/2006/mar/news2.html ) There is now a GIS (Geo Spatial) program for Linux Systems. No, it’s not a scaled down anything. It is the real thing, full powered, Fully funtional Program. It’s from PCI, PCI Geomatics. ( http://www.pcigeomatics.com/ ) The program is called ‘Geomatica 10’. It’s ported to Red Hat Linux and SuSe and Solaris, as well as Windows. And as for dated basses, they have been working with Oracle, to take advantage of the Oracle 10g Data Base. PCI based in Canada is not a newbie in the GIS business, so this is realy main-stream. With so many Linux machines in the world, and now GIS enabled (think small embeded, remote sensers) there’s no stopping our little Penguin now.!. 🙂
(Now, if we can just get the CAD people to catch up…)
