The short term view is not the whole one

I wonder two things:
1) did either company map out a 5 year vision for itself? If not, how do they know if what they’ve built will support the company’s direction?
2) will TwoCo end up having to continually develop b/c it is relying on legacy systems that weren’t designed for its use?
