I’ve been reading them avidly around here for awhile. As it is a Presidential Election year, I’m going out on a limb and posting my regular Presidential Election year mass email. I send this to my friends, family, and colleagues every Presidential Election year, with the request that they pass it on. Don’t know how much good it will do if it works, or how long it will take. But if you agree, please copy it, edit it if you don’t like the way I put it, and send it on.
Another Presidential Election year is here. In November we Americans will be asked to go to the polls to vote for yet another established politician. This makes it time for me to repeat my regular, Presidential Plea (PP for short!).
Both the Democrat and Republican parties are so entrenched that to all appearances they are completely disconnected from the majority of the American people. They bounce checks with impunity. They lie, cheat and steal from the American taxpayer with impunity. Questionable executive orders flow like booze down the throat of winos (ok, a tad bit of hyperbole here but it seems appropriate).
When is the last time anyone was really satisfied with a presidential candidate? Hell, I can?t remember the last time I was satisfied with the primary candidates. Neither party seems to have a clue as to what we are really looking for out here in Taxpayerville. Al Gore, John Kerry, George W., John McCain (help me please), Hillary, Barack Obama, Mike Huckaby. Ugh. We have been asked for too many years to get out to vote for the ?lesser of two evils?. That?s a crap choice to have to make. Why should we have to vote for any ?evil? at all?
So? we obviously need to send a message to our beloved politicians. I implore you to vote 3rd party in this presidential election, if you can. Think about it. If, over time, we can move 25-30% (more even?) of the vote in every election possible to 3rd party candidates, might that not send a message? If I were a Democrat or Republican politician watching the bulk of the vote move away from me, I might actually stop to think about who pays me. If I were the party leadership, I know I would. I?d likely do just about anything to stay ?in power?, including listen to my employer.
Yes, it means voting for the loser for many years. But in reality, I think it is the only option (outside of serious, armed revolution) that we have.
Think about it. Please vote 3rd party.
