Three Year Plan

I am a new IT Manager and have been directed to write a three year plan for my company. I am at a complete loss, having never done this before. Does anyone have any ideas or web sites I can access to figure out where our industry is heading? What are other companies doing, what direction are they heading in. What is the future for networking equipment, cabling, backups, data storage, server space, virus protection, etc? I know my plan has to be configured for my company but I am also looking for an example of a Three Year plan, to give me an idea of how to get started.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
