As a Volunteer Tech who also does Resumes and does the contacting. I like to mentioned that writing a resume can be somewhat complicated at times.

Before writing out a resume it is always a good idea to find out what the IT firm requires. For example here at Orbital Computer Services we required that the prospective IT individual have Certification relating to any skills/experience that they might have.

Things that we required in a resume:
1: Certifications
What type of certifications do you have? How many years have you since been certified?
2: Experience/Skills:
Experience & Skills plays a big part. List them. However keep in mind that if your experience/skill is related to a specific certification please mention that.
Number of years experience? (0-100 years)
Education:
High School (Year of Graduation, GPA)
Higher Education (GPA, Contact information, Year Graduated, Major and/or minor)
Other (Training, Misc.)
Work History:
In your work history, please keep it simple yet give full discription of your work history. This includes years worked, contact information to verified your employment.
References:
At least 3 references or more (10 max).

(Tip: Please do not use family members as references)
