Toshiba is loaded with junk?

After dealing with numerous problems with my Toshita a-100 I am wondering what should I get rid of? Should I wipe out anything that has Toshita in the name and run dry Windows XP or do I need some of the components to keep from getting the dredded black screen or restarts over and over again. Some help please, before it is Hammer Time and I am making payments on an ugly paperweight. Thank you in advance, Pablo.
