Touchpad Mouse Problem

by bigdogg019 . Updated 20 years, 7 months ago

I just installed SuSE 10 on my Inspiron 8500 laptop. This laptop has both a ALPS Touchpad and a joystick mouse inside the keyboard. The joystick mouse is currently broken to where if I try to type, the mouse starts to move and I lose control over the pointer. In windows I can disable just the joystick part of the mouse, and it all works fine, but in Linux, I do not know of a way to get it to see the difference between the two. I have searched for Linux bases ALPS touchpad drivers, but have only found drivers relating to the touchpad itself and its features, but nothing about the joystick mouse. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem without replacing my keyboard, which I can do if it needs to be done. Thanks in advance.
