Trying to break into the field!!!

Well, I am in the St.Louis,MO area and I have an Associates Degree in Computer Science/Network Admin, and am having trouble finding a job in the field.
Any suggestions or comments to help myself as well as anyone else currently looking for employment would be appreciated.
