Ubuntu printing to XP Shared HP D2360

by zombiebot . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Hello all,

Can you help me with the following please?…

I have recently installed an HP D2360 printer via USB to my Windows XP Home PC. I have shared the printer and my other XP Home PC and Laptop can print to it without any problems. However, I also have a laptop running Ubuntu (Dapper drake) – I have installed the latest HP Linux drivers and am able to select the D2300 series option when setting up the printer. When I try to print from the Linux laptop the print job becomes visible in the queue on my XP PC and the printer makes whirring noises as if preparing to print. That’s where the problem occurs, nothing prints and the job remains on the queue (status = printing, not error) until the job is cancelled and the print spool is restarted. I thought it might just be extremely slow so I left it for a couple of hours in the queue and still nothing printed.

With my previous printer HP 970cxi with the same setup (except parallel instead of USB) everything worked just fine.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

(Please… someone out there must have an idea of what the problem coule be!)
