Unable to Install Office97

I am trying to install Office97 on a Win95 PC(Compaq DeskPro PIII 500). Right before the files start copying onto the hard drive, I get an “Acme setup cannot continue” error. Has anyone ever had this problem? This is a clean install (no previous version of Office installed.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
