Unable to mount root fs on 08:41

by dlevine . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

Does anyone know what this represents? I belive its my scsi hard drive or controller. The entire message reads:
Please append a correct “root=” boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:41.

I’m running a Compaq Proliant 2500 server with 256mb ram. I’m new to linux, so any assistance would be great.

Thank you
