We are in preliminary discussions about moving to a unified messaging system. The driving force behind this (and the only way I can justify the cost) is the ability to archive voicemail the same way we do e-mail, without any end-user action.
We currently record all of our incoming calls, but not internal calls so there is no record of an internal VM and it is almost impossible to locate a VM from outside unless you know the date and the time it was left (such as a 30 second message left in the middle of the day a couple of weeks ago).
The system would have to be able to archive ALL voicemails in a searchable manner; behind the scenes and without any decisions by the recipient.
Our vendor is not aware of any product that will do that. According to them any of the methods used to integrate VM with Exchange still delete the voicemail if the receiver deletes his delivered copy.
Is anyone familiar with a VM archiving system like I’ve described?
