Unwanted help messages from FTP server

by mauriced . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

Our Novell 3.12 server was recently replaced by a Internetware 4.11 server. Since the change, our customer receives unwanted error codes (RCA=99000)and help messages associated with the use of the site quote command, when transfering files by FTP . They never got them when we used the 3.12 server. This causes the customer to have to manually intervene in an otherwise automated process. The command sent reads as follows:

SITE FIXrecfm 133

They get back: 250-:FIXrecfm 133: Illegal quote site command.

Followed by a half-screen of site command help message. The customer’s client is TCP/IP for VM by IBM Level 310.

How do we mute, silence, or otherwise prevent our server from returning these error codes and help messages. Ommitting the site command is not an option.

Thanks.
