USB jumpdrive question

I just purchased a 1 gig USB lexar jumpdrive. It had security capabilities so i can partition the jumprdrive off into a secure, password protected area and a public area. When you plug the jumpdrive in it goes under Hard Disk Drives, instead of removeable media. Because it isn’t removeable media i need admin priveleges to access it (which i don’t have in a school environment). Any idea’s for fixing that problem?
