usb ports and audio jack not detecting anything

thing is, both the usb ports and audio jack show as “working properly” but they can’t detect anything, not the mouse, not the pen, not the headset. i already went to the device manager and disabled/enabled the usb root hubs, I already updated the drivers, uninstalled and restarted to reinstall the drivers, took the power cord out and restarted and nothing too. at this point i’m wondering if the hardware itself is faulty but in the device manager they show as working properly.
any thoughts?
