User accounts in SAMBA

I installed SAMBA on REDHAT7. THe only user account I can connect with is root and the corresponding password. Where do I set up additional users?
I have my Linux set up as a workstation.
Also, where is the samba.conf file located that the software is using?
Is it the one in /usr/local/samba?
Is it enough to create a text file or is there anything I need to do with it?
I am new to this so take it easy on me, please.
