User Profiles

Ok here is the problem i have and i sure hope someone can help here.

First i gotta let you know that i didnt backup registry (yep i know naughty me) anyway i tried to do a simple copy of a profile from one username to another on a win2k box and halfway through it encountered a registry error.

Anyway i logged back on as the user i was trying to copy and lost all the icons and shortcuts from the desktop and start menu.

I did get an error message saying the registry profile was corrupt and it set back to default profile which is no good as the users emails etc etc and links are all missing.

please help with advice on restoring the users profile or the like.

any help appreciated
