usermin and pam_ldap authentication

i have downloaded and installed usermin a graphical user interface into the linux os to read mail, etc. i am using pam_ldap for authentication (this works for my pop users) however i cannot get it to work for the usermin module. the default for this program is to check the /etc/password file.
