VB6 Portable – Microsoft Access 2007 – Can I Connect?

I am running VB6 Portable and I am working on connecting this to Access 2007 for a simple project. It will not accept a connection seemingly unless the database is Access 97 using the data control.

Also when I have tried setting up ODBC, and downloading the missing MSADODC.ocx it brings up the message “License information for this component not found. You do not have appropriate licence to use this functionality in the design environment.”

It appears there is no easy way to connect a database built in Access 2007 using VB6 Portable. Can anyone suggest any possible solutions – I am fairly new to this.
