Video card resetting

I have an Asus AGP-V7100/2VID VIDEO CARD in a machine running win98se. I adjust the monitor so that the video card displays full screen. Whenever I shut off the monitor or computer the video card resets and does not display full screen. I have thelatest driver. I am using a gateway vx900 monitor. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to stop the card from reseting.
