Virtual Private Networks

Hi all, I just install RAS on an NT Server 4.0 with service pack 6. I install the PPTP protocol and setup the server for VPN connections over the Internet. I have managed to get connected. I can ping the pc’s on the network but I cannot view certain pcs.
From my home using windows98 with Virtual Private Networking installed I was able to find the server using the IP address.
When I view the log file, it said that the port speed was only 9600.
Could someone explain to me how to open that port (what port?)
I have no idea what port to open because I’m using a DSL connection to the Internet and the network that I’m connecting to is 100BaseT. I tried to download a file and it took for ever.
