Virus Scan Solution

Hello all. I am looking for a virus scan solution for my home PCs. I am currently (unhappily I may add) using McAfee Virus Scan with the additional McAfee Firewall. I don’t like the way McAfee will bring the PC to a grinding halt when it scans files prior to opening. I have messed around with the settings, etc. but have now decided after 3 years of using that I want something new. I am using McAfee Virus Scan online. So, I would like to canvas everyone out there for what YOU would recommend and why. I am looking for something that won’t slow down my system and just do what it is supposed to do.
