Vista, Offline Files, and Toshiba Fingerprint Scanners…

by daniel.wilkie . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

I’ve recently purchased a Port?ge R500 for our MD, and have since uncovered a rather bizarre problem which I’m at a total loss to explain or resolve, so I’m throwing myself upon your mercy.

He uses offline files extensively as he’s out and about a lot of the time, and this was all working fine and dandy on his old Portege. The new one however seems to not synchronise Powerpoint files (and, bizarrely, only powerpoint files). If you try and access them offline (you can SEE them, and it says they’re synchronised) then Powerpoint just returns an error about the path being invalid and then exits. The rest of the Office Suite is fine. Here’s the wierd bit however… If you copy said powerpoint anywhere on the local machine, then try and open it offline through the network structure, it opens absolutely fine.

Is it me or does that not make any sense at all?

I really need to sort this, I’ve seen issues with offline files and the fingerprint scanner, but that was a key feature he doesnt’ want to lose so removing it isn’t really an option.
