Vista overall sluggishness

by korby . Updated 17 years, 9 months ago

I know this has been a topic touched on several million times by now, but in reality has anyone really found a solution? I seem to see turn off Aero, turn off indexing, turn on the sidebar, and so on. However that still doesn’t do it, I’m not talking about Vista running slow on a P4 system with 1gb of ram, I’m talking about Vista running slow on systems that have more than enough hardware capabilities for the os. I find vista almost painfully slow at times and my vista systems specs are as follows:

Dell Studio 1735 Laptop
2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo
4GB Crucial Ram
160GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 3650 w/256MB Dedicated
2gb Sandisk SD card being used as readyboost.
Vista Ultimate SP1 (Clean install without Dell Bloatware)

I actually really like the vista search feature, it’s the only feature that keeps me from going back to XP. I just wish we could find some real information on how to actually get this os to perform better. I had hoped Microsoft would address these issues with SP1 but since that didn’t happen I guess it’s up to the consumers to fix the product.
