Hi.
I’m trying to run terminal services into my LAN. I’m running Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows XP. I have a Linksys Cable/DSL Router which has DHCP built in. My server is just a member server at the moment, and I have high speed cableconnection. I’m wanting to use terminal services to access my network when I’m away, and I’ve been told (or read) that since this is going over a LAN, I must use Routing and Remote Access to set up a VPN. Is this true? I do not want to dial up tomy network. I would rather just use my network connection. How do I set this up? Do I need to set up DHCP on my server and disable that service on the Router? Reserve a Port to that server? If so, what IP address would I use to get to my server? My internal IP addresses are private in the 192.168.1.xx range. Sorry, I know this is long… just need a little professional help.
Thanks,
LR
