My boss wants a VPN solution to cut the cost of a $1200/mo 256 private FR line. At 1st it looked like we could use our Cisco 2500’s (11.2 IOS) behind a Netopia 7200 to tunnel data between locations (the Netopia will not tunnel IPX natively). This would give us the benefit of each location having its own internet connection instead of sharing a 1.1 SDSL line with the remote office over the FR line. Turns out our ISP isnt offering SDSL anymore but will let us go month2month with our current service. That means we need a new ISP for the remote office and could save $100/mo and get a 1.5 for the central office with a new carrier. OK, but now what about the already configured class C subnets at each location that is provided by PSI which we cant lease or buy if we leave. Kinda on a rant there but has anyone reading used the Cisco 2500 (IOS 11.2) to tunnel data across the internet or faced a similar situation?
