VPN or firewall

We have a lady that telecommutes from home. She has DSL, but where she lives has a hefty firewall blocking ports 0-1024. Is there a way to change the port that VPN is on so that she could connect over the firewall? I don’t have too much info on the firewall from the place where she is living, but it is allowing her to get out, but not allowing anything back. I hope that is have explained this correctly.
