vpn using pptp

here in our office we installed pptp for vpn.this working fine but problem is that when a client connected to the pptp server which is the NTserver 4.0 the client disconnects after 30 seconds.
There is no problem in authentication and connectivity.Can any body suggest me why this disconnects and also tell me how can we check that file transfer is secure.
