W2k server & Oracle 8i edu versions

by farside1 . Updated 24 years ago

Which means that I have 0 experience loading either. I built a server – abit K7 mobo w/1.5G
Athlon XP, 256 MB dimm, 3 seperate hard drives.
I have not loaded a modem and network card yet,
and have not configured the dbase and services.
This will be setup as a central server on a home
lan, while it will be dialing up the main server
and using it’s single license to login on Oracle.

I started from a new install, formatted 80GB
and loaded W2K server edu version by itself.
I want to know what to do next? The 2nd HD is
8 GB – should I format that as a single partition,
then load Oracle 8i edu version on that HD?
I would have a 3rd HD – 20 GBytes. Would I then
format 2 partitions as NTSF, and use 1 partition
for W2K server tempfiles, and the other partition
as dbase for Oracle 8i. Limited budget here.

I haven’t looked at the Oracle CD Rom contents,
there should be a user manual on there I hope.
I am looking around TechRepublic for admin tips
on W2K server user configurations.

Any suggestions are most appreciated.
