Have any of you had to deal with this issue I wonder? You have a dozen or more network laser printers and your users print everything that touches their inbox or shared folders – from jokes, to chain letters to pictures from Aunt Genie’s 82nd birthday party.
The worse outbreak here though has got to be the ridiculous one sentence email printing. We have numerous users who’ll literally print ANY email even a reply that simply states “Where are you going to lunch today?” or “Thanks for the report.”.
I’ve told users about this about a dozen times already and they still ignore it.
Well we are getting 3 huge document centers in the next month, we are leasing them – so like going over your miles on a leased car, if we exceed our prints per quarter we pay additional per print.
After calculating we are printing about 2000 wasteful prints per month (24,000 a year).
How do you deal with wasteful printing in your company? And if the answer is printing policy – what tactics do you employ to see its adhered too?
Thanks.
