What happens when one doesn’t ‘safely remove hardware’? (a printer)

by kbmoose1 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

My daughter was in a hurry and pulled the usb cable from her laptop (running XP SP2) while a print job was running.

Since then, the printer shows as ‘offline’.

She was told to unplug the USB, delete the printer and uninstall the drivers, then restart her computer. After the restart, to plug in the USB and turn on the Printer (an HP1330). She did this, but no go. Printer still won’t print.

Did the unplugging do some irreversible damage, or can this printer be saved? If so, how?

Thanks in advance …
